Spruce Camp is our three-person safari-style canvas tent, tucked among spruce trees with sweeping views of the Wrangell Mountains and Kennicott River Valley. Perched on a raised platform with a covered deck, it offers privacy and easy access to the Pavilion via the scenic staircase — perfect for morning coffee or gathering around the evening campfire.
Inside, you’ll find a comfortable queen bed and twin bed dressed in premium linens with ultra-warm down comforters, bedside tables, and a small table with chairs. A portable propane heater keeps everyone cozy on cool Alaska evenings, and hot water bottles are provided for extra warmth on chilly nights. Your tent is a peaceful retreat; meals, coffee, and gathering take place in the shared Pavilion just steps away.

Camp McCarthy is a backcountry glamping experience in bear country. For wildlife safety, no cooking is permitted in tents or on-site. McCarthy and Kennicott offer excellent restaurants nearby, and we’re happy to share suggestions for picnic-style foods to enjoy at the Pavilion.
